Super Woman: Taking Everyday In Her Stride! Celebrating International Women’s Month. By Poet, Educator, Holistic Coach, Speaker & Vegan Patricia Foster McKenley

“As a woman, today and hereafter, I choose to express myself at my highest potential! That is my divine purpose and mission on this Earth.”~ Patricia Foster McKenley, 8th March 2012

Imagine how this world would be if as individual women, we decided to reach for our highest potential and operate from that place for as much of our lives as possible. Imagine if we tapped into our innate powers and energies daily.

I wrote the above quote for International Women’s Day in March 2012. March is also renowned  for celebrating International Women’s Week and International Women’s Month.

We also celebrated Mothering Sunday or Mother’s Day in the UK on Sunday 11th March 2018. Additionally, two of my beautiful nieces celebrated Birthdays in March – one on International Women’s Day too, therefore lots of female energy to tap into and generate. Lots of magic and miracles to create.

So as a woman, how will you choose to express yourself and your positive, female energy today, this month, in March and for the rest of the year? It is our divine gift to share with our loved ones and the world.

MANY BLESSINGS,

Patricia Foster McKenley.

Patricia will be running Poetry Workshops, Self-Esteem Workshops for Young Women and Writing/Personal Development Workshops for Women during International Women’s Month and throughout the year. She’ll also be performing at various Poetry Readings throughout March.

Five Lives

Saturday 15 February 2014, 7pm to 9pm

Join some of the most exciting talent on the UK poetry scene. Five Black British poets explore and celebrate love, life and their Caribbean and African heritage with power, humour and honesty.

Dorothea Smartt is a ‘Brit-born Bajan international’, her work typically bridges Britain and Barbados, effortlessly shuttling between local and global scenes as it weaves a diasporic web. She is the author of two poetry collections, Connecting Medium and Ship Shape.
@britbornbajan1

Kadija Sesay has performed around the world. Her poetry collection Irki was published in 2013 which she toured in the UK, USA, Caribbean and West Africa. She was recently awarded an Arts Council Grant to work on her second poetry collection, The Modern Pan Africanist’s Journey.

Malika Booker was born in the UK to Guyanese and Grenadian parents and first began writing and performing poetry while at Goldsmiths University. As well as her own acclaimed solo work Malika founded the writers’ collective Malika’s Kitchen in 2000. It aims to support “multicultural writers in the development of their craft.”
@Malikabooker

Patricia Foster is a writer, poet, performer, actress and founder member of highly acclaimed writers’ collective Malika’s Kitchen. Patricia has read poetry and monologues across Europe and the US and has been published in numerous anthologies.

The past week – Saturday 19th October to Saturday 26th October 2013 – has been incredibly busy for me, as well as positive, productive and life affirming. Poetry performances, a women’s expo, a film launch, teaching and training and being interviewed.

Today, this wonderful week culminates in my performance at the fundraising event ‘Ladies Night’, where I will be sharing the stage with Queen of Lovers Rock Janet Kay, Mistri and OneNess. This event is to increase awareness of and raise funds for the very important ‘Virtue Programme’, a fantastic personal development programme for 13-16 year old girls.

I am also a facilitator on The Virtue Programme and cannot speak highly enough about it. At the end of this six week project, young, confident, empowered women, destined to be future leaders, will emerge.

There are a few tickets available for this event, including a 2 or more for £15 each ticket offer. Follow the link at:

Look forward to seeing you there tonight!

What Is Your Life Purpose?

How many of us have moved through life, not realising we have a unique gift or talent? How often does fear play a part in preventing us from unleashing our gifts and talents to the world? How many of us are actually utilising this gift to make a difference to another person’s life?

20130905-224311.jpg

What would you say is your God given, divine purpose in life? What do you feel destined or driven to do? Those of us who have identified a gift, sometimes shy away from the reality of how big an impact they can make on the world and the possibility of shouldering the responsibility of using this gift to make a difference. Some of us may need help or guidance identifying what this special gift is.

Making a difference doesn’t have to mean standing at a pulpit like Martin Luther King, or being an iconic national leader, such as Nelson Mandela. Making a difference can simply mean inspiring just ONE person to positively change their lives, or empowering and inspiring young people through teaching or mentoring.

How will you…yes, YOU… choose to unleash your unique, God given gift the World is waiting to receive?

Using Poetry to Empower and Inspire Young Vulnerable People! By Patricia Foster

Back in 2005, a dear friend of mine asked if I would like to facilitate a poetry workshop at an east London school, where she worked as an Art Therapist. Her work at the school was on behalf of the fantastic Kids Company. At this juncture I was already aware of the wonderful work Kids Company was doing with young, emotionally challenged, but enthusiastic young people.

Over a four week period, I worked with children ranging from Year 2 to Year 4, to bring out their poetic talents. Seeing their excitement at having the opportunity to express and unleash their creativity through the art of literature was so heartwarming. Young people, some whom had never met a poet before, were soaring in confidence and brimming with self belief. I recall receiving high fives in the corridor from some of my students and a passing comment ‘Ah, my favourite poet’. All of this was testimony to the huge transformations taking place. The opportunity to change lives was made possible through Kids Company.
