Poet Patricia Foster McKenley, Reading from ‘Filigree: Contemporary Black British Poetry’, at Ilkley Literature Festival, 14th October 2018. 


‪I’m delighted to share that I will be reading poetry at Ilkley Literature Festival on Sunday 14 October 2018. I’ll be sharing the stage with Maya Chowdhry, Nick Makoha and Rishi Dastidar to promote the new anthology Filigree: Contemporary Black British Poetry, which we will all be published in. 

Edited by Nii Parkes and Inscribe Series/Peepal Tree. Editor Kadija Sesay.

Host on the day is Pete Kalu.

Reading at Ilkley Festival is something I have always wanted to do. Being included in this anthology, which includes a wealth of Black British writers, is a huge honour. I am indebted to Nii Parkes and Kadija Sesay for their brilliant editing, encouragement, nurturing and support. 

Featuring past and present writers from Malikas Poetry Kitchen.

Black History Month Activities With Award Winning Poet and Performer Patricia Foster – October 2016. BHM Workshop at UWLSU, At The Inkwell London Celebrates Black History Month, ‘Southbound: An Evening of Poetry’ (Southwark Libraries).

The UK celebrates Black History Month in October and I would love to share what I’ll be up to this month.
This Wednesday 19th October 2016, I’ll be delivering a poetry workshop for Black History Month. My workshop will be part of the University of West London Students’ Union (UWLSU) Black Histoy Month programme. I very much look forward to it:

On Thursday 20th October, I will be co-hosting the third instalment of the monthly event At The Inkwell London. We will celebrate and acknowledge Black History Month; the rich and varied accounts of migration, belonging, culture and family.

At The Inkwell Expands to London

 

 

London, UK (June 6, 2016) – At The Inkwell, the New York City-based literary reading series, announced today that it is expanding to London, under the leadership of Patricia Foster, Gemma Weekes and Rachel Rigby as co-hosts.

 Founded in 2013, At The Inkwell supports published authors through book reviews, author interviews and readings. London will be the first international city in addition to Denver, Colorado; San Francisco, California; Seattle, Washington and New York City.


 

The inaugural launch in London will be Thursday, July 21 at 19:00 at Counter Albion, located at 45 Redchurch Street, Shoreditch, E2 7DJ. Only a 3-5 minute walk from ‘Shoreditch High Street’ Overground station.
At The Inkwell features emerging and established published authors of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and plays.
Featured writers also include those who have published essays and short stories.

 

In the past three years, At The Inkwell’s US reading series has gained increasing recognition in the literary community. It has hosted readings at the Annual NYC Poetry Festival, which attracts more than 4,000 people. In September it will partner with 100 Thousand Poets for Change, National Translation Month and Lit Crawl Denver to host readings.

It will be a packed night, as well as an enjoyable one. Agnes Meadows has done a stellar job, putting together the fifth Loose Muse Anthology, dedicated to women’s writing. It will be a great opportunity to hear an array of different, quality women’s voices.
