Early Years

Born in South-east London, to post Windrush era immigrant parents hailing from Jamaica, Patricia is one of seven siblings. She displayed an early interest in drawing and painting, winning several competitions, as well as a competence and a love for creative writing.

Growing up in a large, loving family, where money was tight, the children used vivid imaginations, improvisation and creativity to produce memorable childhoods.

School life was happy but at times challenging, due to bullying both in primary and secondary school. On top of this, was an unexpected discouragement and lack of support from a few teachers, as well as some lecturers at University. Undeterred, with her inner determination and support from family, Patricia went on to successfully complete her secondary education and degree.

Working Life

Redundancy in 2011, after a twenty-year career working in the community devising successful education, literature and training initiatives to empower and teach, prompted Patricia to pursue her lifelong ambitions to continue her work, through her writing and own freelance business.
